How we research
Flagstaff Trip is an independent guide to Flagstaff, Arizona, and the day trips from town. For every price, rule and opening time we go to the source and note the date we checked it.
Last updated November 7, 2026
Where our facts come from
We ask whoever is in charge. Snow play rules and forest roads come from the Coconino National Forest, park fees and hours from the National Park Service, parking and city rules from the City of Flagstaff, and the weather averages from NOAA. Ski seasons, tickets and opening hours come from the operators themselves: Arizona Snowbowl, Lowell Observatory, Meteor Crater, the Grand Canyon Railway and the others. Hotel rules come from each hotel's or chain's own website.
Each page gives the date we checked it and lists its sources in a short note at the end. Prices and opening times change, so confirm them with the business before you book.
When we can't confirm something
- If the source doesn't give a fact, we say so instead of guessing.
- If two official sources disagree, we go by the operator or the stricter rule.
- Distances and drive times are estimates from OpenStreetMap routing without traffic. Snow, chain rules and road closures change by the hour.
- Hotel and tour ratings are the guest ratings shown on Expedia and Viator. We don't write reviews of our own.
Which hotels we list
We list hotels with a guest rating of at least 8.5 out of 10 from at least 20 reviews on Expedia. Hotel Monte Vista is the one exception, for its history downtown. Its rating is shown like every other. We don't link to hotel websites.
How we make money
Some links go to Expedia and Viator as affiliate links. Book through one and we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. In the page code, every link that can pay us is marked as sponsored.
No hotel, tour operator or attraction pays to be listed, and commissions have no say in what we recommend or in what order. Places you can't book through us, such as the national monuments, the observatory or the snow play areas, get the same care.
Photos
Place and landscape photos come from Wikimedia Commons. Each photo is credited where it appears, and the image credits page lists every one with its author and license. Hotel and tour photos are the businesses' own images from Expedia and Viator, and we use them only next to links to that hotel or tour.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, email [email protected] with the page and what has changed. We check it against the source, update the page and give it a new date.
